Welcome to the wonderful world of Blades of Exile! You now
have access to days, weeks, or even months of role-playing adventure!
Not only does Blades of Exile come with three intricate, fascinating adventures, but you can also get scenarios others have made from the Internet, and even make your own scenarios!
Should you run into any trouble playing Blades of Exile, don't hesitate to E-mail its author, Jeff Vogel, at SpidWeb@spidweb.com. You can always find plenty of information at Spiderweb Software, Inc.'s web site: http://www.spidweb.com.
>>> Troubleshooting <<<
Should you experience trouble with Blades of Exile crashing, or with
odd behavior such as static in sounds or graphics, contact the author at
the address above. First, however, there are several ways you might be
able to make the problem go away.
1. Sometimes files can become corrupted. If you have a lot of recurring troubles and crashes, redownloading and reinstalling the game might help, especially is a crashes started happening after a long period of no problems.
2. Give Blades of Exile more memory. From the Finder, click on Blades of Exile and hit Command-I. Increase the numbers in the lower right hand corner of the
window that comes up.
3. Play Blades of Exile without extensions running. To do this, Restart your Mac, and hold the shift key down while it boots up.
4. If the Blades of Exile Editor was running while Blades of Exile was running, this can cause problems. Quite both programs, and run the game.
5. If you are using the Control Panel YesNoCancel or PSI's Faxcilitate software, turn them off. There are known incompatabilities between them and Blades of Exile.
If none of these things help, please let me know! If there are any bugs left, I want to squish them! Typo reports are welcome too!
>>> Answers to common questions <<<
1. How do I attack someone?
Just move into them. Note that, in town, you have to enter combat mode
first. Click on the sword button to do this.
2. How do I equip an item?
Type the number of the PC with the item to bring you to that PC's
item page. Click on the name of the item.
3. I can't figure out talking to people!
Talk to someone (type 't' and click on the person). Click on the '?' button at the upper right corner of the talking area.
4. Sometimes I'm told my mage is too encumbered to cast spells, and
sometimes I'm not. Why?
You can only cast mage spells when your encumbrance is 1 or less.
However, Defense skill counteracts this. If your encumbrance is 2 or 3 and
your defense skill is high, you might occasionally get away with casting a spell.
5. How do I install a scenario someone else made?
Copy it into the “Blades of Exile Scenarios” folder. Run the game, load a save file not already in a scenario, and press the Custom Scenarios button. The new scenairo will now be available as a choice.
